Electric Tool Causes Dunn Loring Townhouse Fire

news update graphicOn Wednesday, July 18, at approximately 11:56 p.m., units from the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department and Arlington County Fire Department responded to a reported townhouse fire in the 2200 block of Journet Drive in the Dunn Loring section of Fairfax County.  

Units arrived on the scene of a three-story, end of the row townhouse with fire showing from the front on the first floor. Crews quickly located and extinguished the fire. There were no reported civilian or firefighter injuries. 

The townhouse was unoccupied at the time of the fire. Smoke alarms in an adjacent townhouse alerted a neighbor to the fire. The neighbor called 9-1-1.  

Fire Investigators determined that the fire started on the first floor. The fire was accidental in nature and involved an electric hardwood floor sander. 

No one was living in the townhouse at the time of the fire. No occupants were displaced and Red Cross assistance was not needed. Damages as a result of the fire are estimated to be $93,750.
