On Friday, July 28 at approximately 11:21 p.m. units were dispatched for a report of a house fire in the 9500 block of Wallingford Drive in the Lake Braddock section of Fairfax County.

First arriving units found a two-story, split-level home with fire showing in the rear of the house. Crews quickly advanced a fire hose to the rear of the home to extinguish the fire. Other firefighters simultaneously performed a search of the interior of the house to locate residents. The search crew located two occupants and assisted them out of the house unharmed.

Fire Investigators determined that the fire started inside a plastic trash can on the exterior of the garage. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

There were no injuries to civilians or fire department personnel. Red Cross assistance was offered and accepted by six occupants of the home. Damages to the home as a result of the fire were approximately $80,000.
