Virginia Becomes First State To Opt-In To FirstNet’s National Public Safety Broadband Network

Fairfax County Fire Chief Richard Bowers, Police Chief Edwin Roessler, Sheriff Stacey Kincaid and public safety Chiefs from around the Northern Virginia area joined Governor McAuliffe on Tuesday (7/11/17) as he signed a letter of intent declaring that the Commonwealth of Virginia will allow the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet) and AT&T to proceed with the deployment of the Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network in Virginia. Virginia will become the first state to opt-in to FirstNet’s National Public Safety Broadband Network.
