The Fairfax County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a suspected arson at White Oaks Elementary School. On July 3, 2017, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Fairfax County Fire Marshals were dispatched to White Oak Elementary School, located at 6130 Shiplett Blvd in the Burke section of Fairfax County, for a report of arson and destruction of property. A construction crew discovered the damage and found destruction and signs of arson around the property. Damage was found inside and outside the school, including on the newly installed playground.
The Office of the Fire Marshal and Police Department personnel arrived and determined that multiple fires had been started within the school and the playground and a construction trailer had been damaged. The Fairfax County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fires.
The crimes are believed to have occurred during the overnight hours between July 2 and July 3. School is out of session for the summer. The building is currently under construction.
