Springfield House Fire Displaces One

On Monday, April 10, at approximately 11 a.m., units were dispatched to a house fire in the 6300 block of Hibbling Avenue in the Springfield section of Fairfax County.

Units arrived on scene with fire showing from the carport of a two-story, split-level single family home. Firefighters went to work extinguishing the fire on the exterior before transitioning inside to extinguish fire that had spread to the home.

The occupant was alerted to the fire by a neighbor who knocked on the door to warn him. Another neighbor called 911. The occupant safely evacuated the home prior to fire department arrival. No smoke alarms were present.

Fire Investigators determined that the fire originated on the outside and extended to the inside of the home. The cause of the fire is accidental in nature.

No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported. One adult has been displaced as a result of the fire. Red Cross services were offered but declined.

Damages as a result of the fire were estimated to be approximately $247,950.
