At approximately 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, November 24th, units responded to a reported house fire in the 7500 block of Willowbrook Road in the Fairfax Station area of Fairfax County.

A unit from Fire Station 32, Fairview, arrived on scene and reported fire visible from the rear of a one-story, single family dwelling. The fire had started on the rear deck and spread up the back of the home with extension into the attic area. Crews were able to extinguish the fire and prevent further expansion into the home.

Two adults were home at the time of the fire. The fire was discovered by one of the occupants, prior to the smoke alarm sounding, who then called 911. Due to the fire starting outside, the smoke alarms did not initially sound. Both occupants safely evacuated the home prior to fire department arrival.

The cause of the fire was determined to be Accidental in nature as a result of an electrical event involving a hot tub.

There were no firefighter or civilian injuries reported. One adult was displaced. Red Cross assistance was offered and declined. Damages to the home were estimated at $81,250.00.
