Realistic Practice Helps To Make Perfect

Last night at the Fire and Rescue Training Academy, Recruit Class 141 concluded six weeks of emergency medical education classes by practicing simulated emergencies. Several scenarios were run to allow recruits to take what they have learned and apply it in a practical, simulated emergency they will more than likely see once they graduate the academy and are an operational Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician or Firefighter/Paramedic.

In one scenario, recruits were given an opportunity to work with our partners from Fairfax 1, the Police Department helicopter unit, with whom our firefighters in the fire stations work with on significant medical calls on a regular basis.

Once the recruits take their final exam related to the emergency medical training, they will begin the fire training portion of the 28 week curriculum.
