Our Little Hero

Each year members of our Life Safety Education team perform puppet shows to thousands of children, three to five years of age, as part of the Fire and Rescue Department’s Every Step of the Way   program. They reach children in public schools, private schools, and licensed daycare centers throughout the County. The shows teach about fire safety and what to do in case of fire.

Every so often we are made aware of kids who have attended the program and have been confronted with a fire situation and had to act. Yesterday, members of our Life Safety Education staff were at four -year old Hadley’s school to teach more students about fire safety. While there they took some time to recognize Hadley for her quick thinking and actions that prevented a large fire at her grandparent’s house. The team brought her some special surprises as well.

We are so proud of Hadley! We love seeing that our Fire Safety Education program, and team, make a difference!

We aren’t the only ones proud of Hadley though. The letter below, from Hadley’s Grandma, explains Hadley’s amazing reaction to a dangerous situation.
