Saturday, October 22, saw two different types of vehicle fires with each presenting unique challenges.
Units from Fire Station 30, Merrifield, and Fire Station 18, Jefferson, were dispatched for an auto fire at a gas station located at Gallows Road and Holly Road (photo on right). Firefighters arrived on scene and found an auto on fire in near proximity to the gas pumps. Effective firefighting efforts resulted in the fire being extinguished thus preventing the fire from spreading to the nearby gas pumps and causing any further damage.
In the Burke area of Fairfax County, units from Battalions 7, 5 and 4 responded to a report of a tractor trailer fire to the rear of a building in the 8900 block of Burke Lake Road (photos below). Units arrived on scene to find the tractor fully involved. Again, effective firefighting efforts resulted in the fire being quickly extinguished limiting damage to the attached trailer and preventing any fire spread to the nearby building.
Great job by all units and crews!
