On July 4, at approximately 1:06 a.m., units responded to the 10000 block of Wheatfield Court for reports of a house on fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke and fire showing from a two-story single family home. An aggressive attack was conducted and the fire was brought under control. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries.
The house had no working smoke alarms at the time of the fire. Two occupants of the home discovered the fire and alerted the other occupant. One adult and two children have been displaced. Red Cross assistance was declined. Total property loss is estimated at $87,500.
Investigation revealed that the fire originated in the garage. The fire was caused by improperly discarded spent fireworks.
