Units responded to a house fire Sunday, March 27, 2016, at approximately 2:25 p.m., in the Fairfax Station area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 9735 South Park Circle.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the garage area extending into the living area of the single-family home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire. The home had working smoke alarms, however the fire was discovered by the occupants before the alarms activated. Two occupants have been displaced and Red Cross is providing support. There were no reported firefighter or civilian injuries.
Damage is estimated at approximately $126,950.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. The cause of the fire was determined to be the engine of a running vehicle which had caught fire in the garage area.
