Two Dogs Rescued from Basement Fire in Bailey’s Crossroad Townhouse

10 Box TodayUnits responded to a townhouse fire Friday, September 4th, 2015, at approximately 10:30 a.m. in the Bailey’s Crossroad area of Fairfax County. The townhome is located at 4101 Morin St.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the basement level of a end unit, two-story townhouse upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive exterior and interior fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 10 minutes. Two dogs were located and rescued by firefighters from the home.  One dog was found unconscious with difficulty breathing.  Paramedics started immediate care. A pet mask was utilized to provide oxygen to the dog who began to improve immediately and subsequently regained consciousness.  Both dogs where taken to a local animal hospital for additional care.  Smoke alarms were present and did activate.  The two residents, were not at home at the time of the fire and have been displaced and declined Red Cross support.

Damage is estimated at $62,000.

According to fire investigators, the cause of the fire is undetermined.
