Units responded to a house fire Saturday, August 29, 2015, at approximately 4:10 a.m., in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 6421 13th Street.
Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the second floor of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive interior fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control. The lone adult female occupant smelled smoke and was able to escape unharmed. There were no working smoke alarms in the home. Red Cross is providing support to the displaced occupant. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $60,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Burning incense at the top of the stairwell caused the fire.
