Units responded to a house fire Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at approximately 5:30 p.m., in the Annandale area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 3917 Rose Lane.
Firefighters encountered smoke coming from the basement of the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly extinguished the fire. An occupant discovered the fire prior to the activation of a smoke alarm in the basement. Two occupants have been displaced. Red Cross support was offered, but declined by the occupants. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $25,000.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Combustibles placed on top of a toaster caused the fire.

- Keep at least three feet of clearance between any device that creates heat and could ignite combustible materials.
- Do not store combustible materials in closed areas or near a heat source.
