Units responded to a garden apartment fire, Sunday, June 21, 2015, at approximately 9:20 p.m., in the Annandale area of Fairfax County. The apartment is located at 7455 Little River Turnpike.
Firefighters encountered smoke coming from the terrace level of the three-story, eleven unit apartment upon arrival. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and quickly brought the fire under control. Smoke alarms sounded; however, the occupants discovered the fire prior to the alarms activating. Twenty-four occupants have been displaced. Red Cross is assisting the displaced occupants. There were no injuries.
Damage is estimated at $75,000.
According fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An electrical event in a utility chase and laundry room on the terrace level caused the fire.
