Sunlight and Mirror Cause House Fire, One Injured

Units responded to house fire, Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at approximately 9:15, a.m., in the Fairview area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 5469 Ladues End Lane.

Firefighters encountered smoke coming from the two-story home upon arrival. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire in the master bedroom. Both occupants were alerted by smoke alarms and escaped. The occupants were able to reoccupy the home following the restoration of utilities. One occupant was transported for a non-life threatening injury.

Damage is estimated at $1,250.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. Sunlight reflecting from a makeup mirror ignited nearby combustibles and caused the fire.
