Hair Trimmer Causes Hair Salon Fire

Units responded to a commercial building fire Wednesday, April 1, 2015, at approximately 2:30 a.m., in the Fairfax Station area of Fairfax County. The building is a hair salon, Hair Cuttery, located in a strip shopping center and located at 5622-D, Ox Road.

Firefighters encountered smoke and a small fire in a single workstation. The bulk of the fire was extinguished by the activation of the sprinkler system. There was no fire extension to any other businesses. There were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. A hair trimmer in a cabinet drawer caused the fire.
