Units responded to a house fire on Friday, March 27, 2015, at approximately 3:30 p.m. in the Alexandria area of Fairfax County. The single-family home is located at 6423 16th Street.
Firefighters encountered heavy fire coming from the rear side of the home upon arrival. Due to the large amount of fire, a second alarm was requested. Firefighters conducted an aggressive attack on the fire and brought it under control in approximately 20 minutes.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. One family pet perished in the fire. The two residents were displaced from the address with no assistance required from the Red Cross. The fire loss is estimated at 100,000.00. The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation.
Damage is estimated at $100,000 to the home.
