Units from Fairfax County and Fairfax City were dispatched for a dog that had fallen through thin ice Thursday Evening, Feb. 26, at Woodglen Lake in Burke. One individual attempted to rescue the dog in a small boat and was unable to reach him.
Crews were able to successfully rescue the dog from the freezing water, warm and reunite him with his owner. Dog and rescuers are safe and happy for a positive outcome to what could have been a tragic event.
Another reminder to all our followers that any body of water in the Fairfax County area that may appear to be frozen is not safe for humans or our four legged friends.
“Play it safe and stay off the ice.”
